What's In My Bag?

My favorite aspect of any vacation is the packing process. I realize that might sound odd. Packing can be extremely stressful, and I don't disagree with that. However, we must all agree that planning outfits and purchasing new items for a trip can be quite fun. Assembling everything means you're one step closer to heading on your vacation!
How you choose to pack for your Disney vacation is entirely up to you—wear whatever makes you comfortable! I've come across numerous posts and videos about packing outfits for Disney trips. However, I haven't seen much about what's inside people's park bags. While comfortable clothing is crucial, knowing what to carry with you throughout the day is equally, if not more, important. Let me share what I pack in my bag each day when at the parks.
Choosing the right bag is a personal decision based on what you need to carry with you. My essential items are small, so I don't require a larger bag. Although Loungefly backpacks are adorable and very trendy right now, they can be quite pricey! When I'm not carrying a Loungefly, I opt for a larger belt bag, like this one from Amazon. It's ideal for my needs and very budget-friendly! My sister prefers a smaller sling, which is perfectly sized for the parks. You can find the link to the one she has here.
Let's get into it! Here is what is in my park bag:
Compact wallet. Emphasis on compact. You don't realize how much space wallets occupy until you're trying to fit them alongside other items! It could even be a card holder, but having something small that comfortably holds your ID, cards, cash, gift cards, etc., is essential!
Portable charger. In my opinion, a FuelRod is the ideal portable charger for Disney. FuelRod stations are located throughout the parks, including the hotels. You make a one-time purchase for around $30 at a station. Whenever it runs out of power, you can visit any station to exchange it for a fully charged one at no cost, as often as needed! This can be reused for multiple trips, so there's no need to buy a new one each visit. It includes adapters for all phone types. No more scrambling over the last 5% battery of your portable charger! The best part is that the FuelRod is very compact, so it won't take up much space in your bag!
Sunglasses. The Florida sun is no joke!
Travel-size sunscreen. For the same reason mentioned above! I prefer the travel-size because it conveniently fits in your bag and provides just the right amount to reapply later on.
Medication. This will differ from person to person since each individual is unique. Personally, I carry a compact pill holder, much like this one, and include Advil, Tylenol, TUMS, and Dramamine, as I tend to experience motion sickness easily. It's beneficial to have these available, as days at the park can be quite lengthy!
Chapstick. Always a need!
Eye drops. If you're someone who wears contacts like me, you understand! When I know I'll be out all day, especially in the sun, I make sure to bring them along.
Bandaids. Most bags feature a small pocket or pouch inside, so I typically toss a few individual ones in there!
Compact hair brush. Listen to me—spending the entire day in the parks can leave you feeling uncomfortable, particularly in the heat! The sweat is undeniable. When we take a break, I enjoy freshening up completely and running a brush through my hair. It always makes me feel better when the tangles are gone!
Travel-size deodorant. Same reason as above! Freshening up fully makes you feel so much better during long park days!
Hand Sanitizer. Although the parks are very clean, it's always beneficial to have this, especially before snacking!
Compact fan. I don't bring this on every trip, but I definitely do during the summer months. The heat can become overwhelming while waiting in line for attractions or simply strolling around. Although Disney provides plenty of mist and shade, Florida's summer temperatures are intense. Having this handy for quick use can make a significant difference! This is the one I recently purchased for my trip to Main Street in a few weeks. If you tend to overheat easily, neck towels might be a good alternative. They can also be folded compactly to fit in your bag.
Ear holder. I wear ears all day, every day, as I personally consider them an essential part of the park experience. However, I won't deny that wearing them all day can sometimes lead to a headache. When you need a break from wearing them, have to take them off for rides, or if you buy a new pair while already wearing one, this bag attachment makes it effortless to carry your ears without actually holding them. Plus, it doesn't take up space in your bag! Many small businesses on Etsy create these, and they are all adorable, like this one!
Snacks! I typically toss a granola bar or two into my bag, along with perhaps another small item. I personally really enjoy the snacks and meals available at the park, so I don't overpack in this area, but tailor to what you and your travel companions need!
I know what you're thinking—water? Staying hydrated is crucial when you're in the heat and walking all day! Quick service restaurants provide free cups of water that you can take as much as needed, and these are available throughout the parks. We try to take advantage of this option as much as possible since it saves space in our bags and money on buying water. On particularly hot days, we purchase a couple of water bottles and refill them throughout the day. If you're someone who prefers having water with you at all times, that's great! You can definitely bring a water bottle into the parks, and there are plenty of excellent bags that can accommodate one. In fact, there are collapsible water bottles out there now that save even more room in your bag when they are not filled. Do what is best for you!
This might seem like a lot, but I assure you, you'll need these items at some point during your trip. They're all quite small, so they'll fit easily in your bag with space left over. Use this as a guide to customize your bag according to your needs, and you'll be set for your day in the park!
