Happy Halloween! Yes, it's only August, but if you're at Disney, the Halloween season has already begun! This Friday, August 15, 2025, marks the beginning of Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. The parks are already adorned with pumpkins, leaves, and other autumn decorations, ready for this event season. This annual event takes place at the Magic Kingdom on select nights each week, usually starting in mid-August and concluding on Halloween night!
So, what exactly is Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party? Is it merely an opportunity to trick-or-treat in Magic Kingdom? While that's certainly one aspect of the event, there's a lot more to explore. Let's take a closer look!
The first thing to understand about this event is that it requires a ticket for entry. Attendees who check in receive a wristband, allowing cast members to identify them as part of the event. The event starts at 7:00pm, with entry permitted from 4:00pm, and concludes at midnight. These tickets are sold separately from your park admission. Prices range from around $120 to $250 per person, with the higher prices being for dates closer to and including October 31. Guests visiting Magic Kingdom on an event day without a Halloween Party ticket will be reminded by cast members to leave the park before 7:00pm. Remember this when visiting during this event season, as Magic Kingdom will close early for those not attending! Tickets for this event usually become available in May of the same year. If you're planning to attend on Halloween night, make sure to log in and secure your tickets as soon as they become available for purchase!
Costumes? Of course! It is Halloween, after all. Costumes are definitely allowed at this event. There are some restrictions (no masks, no toy weapons, nothing that drags on the ground, and everything must be family-friendly) to keep everyone safe, but these are standard rules! I've attended a few of these events, and people come up with really creative ideas. Enjoy it! My family and I are going on August 19, and we're dressing up as characters from Toy Story as a group.
Now, the real question is: what does my ticket actually include? Here is everything you can expect to experience in the Magic Kingdom when you attend this event:
A trick-or-treat bag! People of all ages will be given a small reusable bag featuring the party's name, providing a spot to collect all the candy and treats you gather throughout the park! Cast members will fill your bags while you're in line for attractions, shopping in the stores, and even as you stroll around the park.
Get exclusive merchandise! Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party items aren't available in stores or online. It is only displayed for the duration of the event. There will be a specific section in the Emporium on Main Street dedicated to merchandise featuring the party's branding and more. It's not just a t-shirt; you'll find a glow-in-the-dark tee, spirit jerseys, mugs, picture frames, backpacks, ornaments, and more.
Specialty Snacks! Halloween Cuisine? Count me in. Throughout the event, certain quick-service and table-service locations will offer party-themed treats such as Mickey-Shaped Pumpkin Cheesecake, Magic Potion Slushies, Captain Hook's Treasure Whoopie Pies, Jack and Sally Pops, Madame Leota's Seance Candle Cake, Pumpkin Pie Mini Churros, "Undead" Garlic-Parmesan Chicken Strips, and much more.
Photo Opportunities! If you have the Disney Memory Maker Package, Disney photographers will be stationed throughout the park to capture photos of you in costume. Exclusive filters will be available during the event, allowing you to pose with dancing skeletons, hold characters in your hand, and other fun effects. Themed props will be available as well!
"Spooktacular" rides! Although there aren't any new rides for these events, Disney excels at adding a spooky twist to some of your favorite attractions, such as Space Mountain, Mad Tea Party, and Monster's Inc. Laugh Floor. And who could forget The Haunted Mansion!
Dance parties with characters! During the event, enjoy classic tunes blended with Halloween favorites, and take the chance to dance alongside beloved characters at the Rockettower Plaza Stage in Tomorrowland and Storybook Circus in Fantasyland. For younger attendees, Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe will feature a Disney Jr. Jam. Additionally, the Cadaver Dans Barbershop Quartet will perform in Frontierland!
Disney's Not-So-Spooky Spectacular! Hosted by the legendary Jack Skellington from Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas, this nighttime event highlights how anything can happen on Halloween with stunning fireworks and laser displays. Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy set off on a spooky journey, where they might encounter some famous Disney villains!
The Hocus Pocus Villain "Spelltacular"! A Halloween celebration wouldn't be complete without the Sanderson Sisters. Held on the Cinderella Castle Stage, the sisters join forces with well-known Disney villains, including Oogie Boogie himself, to "put a spell on you" and everyone in the park with a mix of music, dancing, and amazing special effects.
Mickey's Boo-To-You Parade! Exclusively part of Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, this parade features classic Disney characters in spooky costumes, familiar faces from the Haunted Mansion, and a thrilling array of Disney villains. Don't miss the Headless Horseman as he trots down Main Street!
If you and your travel companions choose to attend this event in Disney during the fall, you're guaranteed a "spooktacular" experience. Whether you're a family with young children or a group of adult friends, Disney thrives at providing something for everyone. Happy Halloween season to all Disney fans!
