It's that time of year again at EPCOT! This park provides more than just the iconic ball, attractions, or the World Showcase. It also hosts some of Disney's most beloved festivals. The International Food & Wine Festival begins this Thursday, August 28. This marks the first festival since the International Flower & Garden Festival ended in early June. When organizing your Disney trip, think about timing your visit to align with one of these events! Here is a guide to the main EPCOT festivals and what you can anticipate at each one!
EPCOT International Festival of the Arts (held from January to February)
What is this festival about? The International Festival of the Arts celebrates visual, culinary, and performing arts. It's an opportunity to discover your inner artist and see other artists in action! There are numerous highlights at this festival. Some of my favorites include the food booths offering "art-inspired" dishes, the Disney on Broadway concert series with live performances, chalk art throughout the park, animation workshops, a paint-by-numbers mural that guests can help create, and art-themed photo opportunities around EPCOT. Of course, there are also many opportunities to purchase wonderful pieces of art! This festival is ideal for those who love creativity, enjoy hands-on activities, and appreciate art in all its forms.
EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival (held from March to June)
What is this festival about? The International Flower & Garden Festival offers a chance to witness stunning blooms in magnificent gardens and topiaries featuring beloved characters. Although the breathtaking gardens and character topiaries are the main attractions, the festival also features outdoor kitchens offering fresh seasonal cuisine and the Garden Rocks Concert Series with live performances at America Gardens Theater. Floral photo opportunities will be available as well! This event is ideal for individuals and families who appreciate floral displays and the allure of the outdoors.
EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival (held from late summer to late fall)
This is my top pick! What is this festival about? The International Food & Wine Festival offers a chance to sample cuisines and drinks from across the globe. It's the most renowned festival for good reason. Besides the international food booths, attendees can enjoy the Eat to the Beat concert series with various popular bands and participate in a scavenger hunt for both children and adults. This festival is perfect for food enthusiasts, couples, and anyone interested in exploring new tastes from around the world.
EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays (held from November to December)
What is this festival about? The International Festival of the Holidays is a celebration that highlights seasonal traditions from across the globe. It features various holiday kitchens offering festive treats as well as storytellers who share holiday customs from each country in the World Showcase. A key attraction of this festival is the Candlelight Processional, which includes a 50-piece orchestra, choir, and celebrity narrators. I attended the Processional last December, and it was one of the most beautiful performances I have ever witnessed. This festival is perfect for families, holiday enthusiasts, and anyone seeking a touch of holiday magic.
To make the most of these festivals, consider getting a festival passport when you enter the park! This will serve as your guide to all the booths, menus, and activities, ensuring you don't miss anything you're interested in. Another important tip is to plan your budget wisely. To truly experience the festival, you'll want to sample the various foods and beverages at each booth, so keep your finances in mind. Visiting during the week is also advisable. For instance, the Food & Wine Festival at EPCOT tends to be busier on weekends, so if you prefer smaller crowds, consider this when planning your visit. Lastly, don't miss out on the entertainment! Many concerts and activities are included with your park admission, so take advantage of them as they are available to you at no extra cost!
Whether it's art exhibitions or holiday celebrations, there's likely a festival taking place during your visit to EPCOT, as these events happen for most of the year. This provides an easy method to boost the enjoyment of your upcoming trip. Every festival introduces something special to the park, enhancing your overall Disney experience!
